HISTORY WAS MADE -
JULY 4, 2006
The Birth of Vance Vulture
Armed with only a makeshift brewery built out a few 2x4's, a vacuum pump and a well thought-out recipe, Vulture is born! The results, while technically not an Ale, are nothing short of remarkable and quickly gains the acclaim of all those who try the strange new and delicious product! Filled with pride and enthusiasm, Scott and Robert begin working on the recipe and method that will go on to become Vance Vulture Ale two years later.

Check the merch store for more details.
AUGUST 16, 2008 - Mudskipper Ale (Batch #19)
We have finished refining the first Vulture-style light porter. Mudskipper is now being bottled for tasting. Early tasting revealed a robust porter that is dark and roasty, but with a clean finish.
JULY 11, 2008 - White Ale (Batch #17)
Due to feedback from the Light Beer community, we have crafted a beer more suited for the casual crowd. Some very drastic changes have been made to one of the key ingredients in an attempt to lighten the mouth-feel , yet preserve the distinctive taste of VVA. After only three experimental brews, White Ale™ has arrived and stepped up to the challenge.
APRIL 22, 2008 - VVA T-Shirts Available now!

APRIL 13, 2008 - Sweet Amber (Batch #16)
Realizing the need for a richer, full bodied ale but with a lighter mouth-feel, Sweet Amber is ready for tasting. Very early tasting has deemed it an instant classic and has warranted the demand of a local restaurant to have the unique privilege to offer this VVA brew to their customers.
FEBRUARY 16, 2008 - Lucky Lager (Batch #13)
Due to perfect climate conditions, we have decided to attempt a lager and thus a much longer fermentation process. The results are very limited in supply, but our first tasting was a huge success and this recipe will be repeated for special events in the future.
FEBRUARY 2, 2008 - Red Bitters is born (Batch #12)
We have made it official. VVA is now on the map! After several attempts to design and brew a perfect Red Ale, batch number 12 rolls out quite possibly the greatest ale to ever grace the midwest. In round after round of subsequent taste testing, Red Bitters meets and exceeds the expectations of even the harshest ale judge. There is no finer example of an American Red Ale than this.
NOVEMBER 24, 2007 - The Standard (Batch #6)
After five batches of formula reevaluation, batch number 6 explodes from the VVA workshop as a truly world-class brew. We quickly determined that the formula was perfect, a light hybrid blond ale that needed a name and to be preserved as our first marketable beer.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2007 - The Dreadful Experiments
Without proper feedback, we attempt to add some flavors and citrus taste to the brew, both in the wort and during the in-bottle conditioning. These experiments only serve to taint the hand-crafted qualities of VVA and in the worst case example, create such pressure inside the bottle that they nearly explode upon opening. The whole concept is put to rest as a passing trend and the beer is subsequently destroyed.
AUGUST 21, 2007 - The First Batch of VVA
After two weeks of nervous waiting for the in-bottle conditioning to finish, the very first batch of Vance Vulture Ale was cracked open to a small group of tasters. There was a collective sigh of relief and the room was filled with laughter as everyone realized they had witnessed history in the making! (The groundwork in this batch would later be improved upon until perfection was achieved in batch #6, which would be forever labeled as "The Standard.") |
